Self-described hip urbanists who think that DC should be more like NYC and accept some crime and disorder as part of “living in the city.”
There should be a moratorium on ALL new developer led housing in the District until quality of life and bread and butter issues are addressed by our politicians:
Crime
mental illness
homelessness
rats
vacant retail (why is it more profitable for landlords to let storefronts idle for years)
Adddress these, and then have at it. The focus has been on the wrong place (building more!) though.
