I've given up on these places. I can walk through an entire TJ Maxx or an entire Marshall's and find nothing of quality sufficient that I would buy it. And I'm not a clothing snob at all (for example I'm happy with Target). About 6 months ago I went into a Nordstrom Rack thinking it would be better and I found a pair of sweatpants I liked; after one wash they were as thin as tissue paper and you could see through them easily enough that I can't wear them out of the house. I'm done.

It's this. Outlet stores are pushing a cheaper version of their brand, so you are paying for the name brand. It's usually not the "Out of season" clothes being sold.

The things i've found randomly on the Sierra website have been the absolute best discounts - Barbour, Allbirds, Taos shoes. I went to the store but was too bored to dig through everything. I did notice they have amazing discounts on eKO yoga mats there.

Ross and Burlington are trash.

Only Marshalls for Jockey leggings.

The order in terms of quality of products and shopping experience is Nordstrom Rack > Marshall’s > TJ Maxx > Ross > Burlington

No, the ones in my area are terrible.

I just stopped at one today actually because I got to my salon strip mall early. It’s not that serious.

Everything looks cheap and it's depressing to shop at these stores. Can't explain it. It just doesn't feel nice. Not quite shopping at Walmart level of depressing, but up there.

Really depends. I shop at Nordstrom Rack a lot and can usually find some good deals.

TJ/Marshalls/Ross - they have their place. I dont shop there often but occasionally take a quick peek if I happen to be near one. They are good for finding cheap basics. I have found some cute stuff at Ross for my son. Also recently got a 2 pack of good quality sports bras there for $15. Also don't overlook the home goods sections in these stores. You can sometimes find some decent items.

I went to college in Boston and have a ton of friends who work for TJX. They absolutely funnel certain kinds of items to stores in more affluent zip codes.

They own TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Sierra, and Homesense.

I don't get why they have TJ and Marshalls plus HomeGoods and HomeSense. So weird. The Sierra near me is just a more athleisure-focused TJ Maxx.
