Agree with all of it! Especially the Reina Telegemeier books! My almost 9 year old is a big fan.

She's super into all of the girly lotions and sprays (like BBW).

Squishmallows are life!

This is a great list as the mom of a 9 year old who has been attending a lot of bday parties lately! I would also add that anything Taylor Swift related is hugely popular - friendship bracelets, shirts, bags etc. have been the biggest hit at recent parties

Definitely not Barbies for this age!


My 9 year old would hate anything TS related. A generic friendship bracelet kit would be great but a TS t-shirt would be donated. I would avoid a very specific interest unless you know the kid.

Some good ideas here. My older DD and her friends still play with animal figurines (horses and others - like Schleich figurines). They also all like sports equipment (soccer balls, jump ropes, hackysacks etc

I had the same thought at first, but they're pretty nice. My dd enjoys both and the comic books are especially good for her in her second language after she read the regular book in English. We're looking forward to more of them to be illustrated and translated.

I had the same thought at first, but they're pretty nice. My dd enjoys both and the comic books are especially good for her in her second language after she read the regular book in English. We're looking forward to more of them to be illustrated and translated.

All of the above mentioned below. My 10 year old dd has asked for an oculus. She also likes planners, journals, crocs, lip glosses, bath bombs, fuzzy robe, and fidgets.

My daughter was obsessed with bracelet making kits at that age but make sure they don’t have younger siblings that could swallow or throw the beads.
