The counselors are truly useless.

I agree with you and the ES counselor in our kids' school never did anything for us, but I've come to terms with it. If you were the sole ES counselor for a school of 750-800 students + you oversaw all 504s in the building, you would run lunch groups too, since they are a smart use of limited time and resources. Lunch groups are some counselors' most successful programs.
