I'm sorry to hear it. DC is taking a visual arts elective and it is the main part of their day that brings them joy.

These classes sound great. I wish there were fewer requirements and more room for kids to explore these other subjects.

Also, kid initially signed up for Creative Writing and LGBTQ+ studies. CW didn't fit with schedule, and studies wasn't offered. But,cthey both sounded interesting. Also Latin American studies taught by very enthusiastic history/gov teacher.

Philosophy, offered by his beloved AP Gov teacher. Also an extra social studies class that he took because he couldn't find another AP history class to take.

Personal Finance. My child says it's a low stress class where they actually learn about life lessons that will help them post high school.

Northwood HS has 2 dance teachers.
Also they offer horticulture and some sustainable agriculture electives

I used to work at Loiederman where we used to have 4 dance teachers, what is your point? Electives are what the kids make of it. Can't have a class with non-participation and lack of parental care about the problem. Students still don't care. They still don't try. More teachers doesnt mean more participation. Electives should be a privilege at this point. If you're gonna sign up and not participate, you're dropped. Much like college classes.

Get 15 or 20 kids to commit to taking it and you have a decent shot at getting it. Find a teacher willing to take it on and your odds go up even more.

Before you put a teacher through this, make sure your kid actually wants to LEARN to dance. They don't just wanna spend all of class on TikTok. We've had three dance teachers leave due to this and total lack of participation.
