The truancy rates are sky high and some kids may never catch up post-covid. What future do they have when they are carjacking and robbing during the school day? Some are barely literate. Kids in DYRS care have very little education time. Why is there not a sense of urgency about this?

Because some people think virtue signaling is more important than order.

I feel like as a 6'4 white male, I would be an even better trophy for DC's youth to take down, who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

No, you’d be a trophy for prosecutors if you fought back. Your only choice is to run.

The guy who shot the teen trying to carjack him got off

He was a US Marshall, so, probably not same for regular not LE.

I don't think New Yorkers were wringing their hands and chanting progressive slogans before their city got cleaned up. DC only cares about not arresting and/or prosecuting people which happens to be what voters want....or at least the DC constituents that show up for the primaries. Good luck getting the council to stop making excuses for criminals on social media, let alone getting the federal prosecutors scraped from the very bottom of the barrel to prosecute even half their cases.

They are still too worried about the criminals’ feelings to be anti-crime.

Cities can be cleaned up see NYC. DC is actively not trying and in fact making matters worse.

It's also sad that there are a lot of people who made buckets of money in DC through contracts and other things, but who, instead of helping the city that made them rich, at best, just ignore the problem from their secure private estate or worse yet, engage in the equivalent of shitposting rather than trying to help solve the problem.

Where's our Bloomberg? While I disagreed with some of his methods, at least he cared enough to try and wanted to use his wealth and power to solve the crime and other problems that NYC had. And he did in fact do a lot of good.

Can we sue the AG for not doing its job and for endangering the people of DC?

Yes, you can!

This is it right here. I personally know 3 DC residents who were the victims of crime and none of their cases were prosecuted. They returned "no paper" on every single case.

1. Carjacking. Victim provided very good description of the guys who did it, including a pair of distinct shoes. The guys were caught in the stolen car nearby. The descriptions matched and the one guy was wearing the shoes. Prosecutor chose to no paper due to lack of evidence. This was in 2022.

2. Robbery. Surveillance footage of the robbery was provided to the police. No prosecution. What's even better in this case is that the victim went to the location where her belongings were recovered and spoke with the manager of the business about security footage. The manager would not send her the footage (said the police could get it, tho) but allowed her to use her cell phone to record the screen. The person who robbed her and the person who ditched the belongings are the same. The police never even asked about any security footage from either location. This was in 2023.

3. B&E. Ring footage and inside video footage provided to the police. No prosecution. This was in 2023.

Make it make sense, please.

The young people of DC know they can pretty much do what they want and get away with it.

I don't see how anyone can whine about "but it's just a kid" if an adult fights back against teens - typically teens will work as a group to try and get an advantage over an adult. That makes it an adult crime. Commit adult violence, face adult consequences. It's that simple.
