Ok can posters stop being dicks and help OP out with some suggestions. Mine is to commit to a regular “thing” that you’ve paid for upfront, so not yoga classes you book one at a time, but like a every Monday night tennis class or picking up a CSA share. Live in a vibrant neighborhood if possible and use the coffee shops, libraries, etc to get out of the house. It’s easy to fall into work, takeout, Netflix repeat so figure out some ways to force yourself to get out. Even going to a coworking space 2x a month could help.

I am a 26 years old software engineer and I've never been back to the office after March 2020. WFH is the best thing for young people. I wake up at 6am to go to the gym and be back home at 8am to have breakfast, and start the work day at 8:30am. Took an hour break during lunch to play pickleball with friends and have lunch after that. Play tennis or 9 holes golf with friends at 5pm and go out for a drink and dinner after that. If I have to work in the office, I would not be able to go to the gym, play PB/tennis, and hang out with friends on weekdays. No way I am going back to the office.
doesn't sound like you are putting in a full day of work. at the very least, according to what you wrote, you would need to work until at least 5:30 with the hour (or longer) break for lunch.
Software engineer. Most don’t work 7 hours a day. You’re assigned the work that the average SWE is expected to complete. For example, If you deliver your 8 hour task in 4 hours, good for you… if On the other hand, with bugs and other delays, a task that you thought you could complete in 8 hours could take 12 to get coded, compiled and ready for downstream processes.
My DH is a SWE and he’s working weekends and nights sometimes, but then othertimes he’s signing off at 1pm.

Well, if it were my place of employment no one would be fired. They would break up and he would tell everyone she was incompetent, even if she were awesome. Everyone would believe him and make her life hell until she quits or get made redundant in a downturn. It NEVER ends well for the woman, unless she quits and he gives her a ring and his seed for offspring.

How did you end up with all of your friends living around you to play sports with at noon for an hour or from 5pm? Do they all WFH full time and coincidentally ended up living near you? Or are you talking about random ppl you meet e.g. at the tennis court everyday?
