It is not safe to have coed volleyball. Keep the girls teams just for girls.

Volleyball is a girls sport around the rest of the country. Not a coed or boys sport.
That said, boys volleyball sounds fine if there it interest. Just don't let boys join the girls teams. Safety first!

Fcps doesnt not fund sports. Hence various teams' fundraisers and Booster Club.
That’s bs. FCPS absolutely funds sports programs. It pays coaches and trainers salaries, uniforms, equipment, etc.. Boosters at some schools pay for extras and sports does bring in some income.

Our football team has banners, private trainers who come onsite to do speed/agility, free meals, and a huge "tunnel" that only they get to use. It's ridiculous.
Meanwhile, we had out of state HS tournaments for our girls team and had to drive individually b/c we didn't have the budget for a bus.

This. Boys have lots of options. And their sports are favored by school promotion, ticket sales, boosters, parents. Why do boys need "balance" in volleyball when "balance" is not present in other sports.

No one is trying to replace football. These boys already play volleyball. They are trying to make it an official varsity sport.
Something would have to be cut. Right now, there is balance between boys and girls sports in terms of number of slots available and in terms of budget. Adding another boys sport means something gets cut or you find another girls sport to make varsity
I don’t know why these people don’t get it. They keep pushing this issue when there is a reason for it to be like it is. And with all the more important issues out there, it’s crazy that they keep taking up meeting time and high level staff time with this issue.
I imagine supporters of volleyball just want a volleyball team, but if they need to cut something, seriously, why not cut freshman football and add in both JV and Varsity football. It would save money and be less spots and give students more choices in sports.
It's ridiculous that football is the only no-cut sport paid by FCPS at my kids' high school, with coaches begging kids to please play when other kids are begging to be allowed to play a different sport.
My kid enjoys volleyball and there are no other good fall sports for him. Boys Volleyball would be an excellent addition to fall sports.
