This. You can have your alerts set to silent, that's not going to put out a notification like you saw. But if they are in a do not disturb mode or similar, you will see that wording, when you open up the text (whether or not you have recently texted them).

I have a few contacts that use this. One has it set after 8:30 pm each night, one whenever she is teaching.
