op here. sigh. i don't know which is better but i do know they are slow to do anything. i haven't even been paid yet and i have been working for over a month.

This very definitely sounds like you are being taken advantage of. Please reconsider if this is an appropriate workplace for you.

If she can leave it at work it sounds easier because otherwise she will run into problems with the printer not working, out of ink etc., etc.
Since she works at someone's house instead of an office it creates more problems because management isn't around to make sure the printer is working. Out of sight, out of mind.

The typewriter just sounds like more issues for you op, I wouldn't go that route.

At this point I would be raising all kind of hell re not providing reasonable accommodations.
