Yes, but it makes me nauseous afterwards.

Not particularly. I think the novelty attracts people, but the texture doesn't appeal to me and I don't find it particularly tasty outside of the "bubbles," either.

I like it as a dessert on a hot day when I'm doing a long list of chores. It's an easy break if I'm covering a lot of ground running errands, but it's a lot of calories.

Had it once, and it was OK, but I couldn’t get through more than a few ounces.

I like tapioca pudding (I am old), so the blobs were fine, but the experience as a whole? Meh

But in that case you can get it for cheaper elsewhere...

+1 and only so long as I have a low sugar option.

Anonymous wrote:I'm Asian and don't see the point. Tapioca is bland and chewy. The popping ones are artificial crap. I make cheaper and better tea at home. I'd rather have tea and a biscotti/whatever at a coffee place, when I'm out and about, all things considered. My teen son and daughter are the same. Yet all their friends are bubble tea crazy.

This is like saying you don't like Frappuccino and you make better coffee at home.
Bubble tea isn't for people looking for tea. It for people in tea culture who are looking for a dessert tea, like Frappuccino if for people in coffee culture who want dessert coffee.

Are you a fan of bubble tea?

No. Hate it. It’s just drinking what’s tantamount to melted ice cream. Yes, it isn’t health food. No, I am not white so I am not pushing an ethnocentric view. It’s just junk food in a cup. A monstrosity of sugar, fat, and empty carbs.

I like it but very picky where I buy it. Definitely difference between most chain places and small tea places. For example fruit teas with real fruit..
