The Landing in SS is closing. Many of their residents are going to Cadence in Olney.
When you say “nursing home”, do you mean assisted living?
I’m not the OP but I am looking for facilities with memory care.
Wow about it closing. It seem to be new and have decent reviews.
What about Sunrise of Silver Spring?

My mom had a good experience at the Hebrew Home when she was there for rehab in Fall 2022. It probably helped that I brought a bag of chocolate every week and that she spoke French, which many of the employees there also speak.
Good luck!
+1 on Hebrew Home. The staff in one part was excellent. In another part, on a second visit, the staff was not great. Keep an eye on that. There can be quite a difference in quality, depending on the wing.
They were terrible when I visited but the admissions woman for several years played games saying there were no openings via medicaid, which they accept, and when I'd call no medicaid they'd have beds. When I did a tour they just had residents staring at the walls. Very short staffed, but most places were.
It's too bad they've gone downhill. It used to be one of the best in the county.
Our relative is there since early 2020. It is a nightmare. Only slightly better than leaving our relative alone in a studio apartment.

My elderly parent is slowly but certainly too much for my family to manage at home and we are moving toward assisted living. Never having gone through this before I am woefully unprepared for what to expect from both a cost perspective and a timeframe. Any suggestions would be welcome.

All nursing homes have limited Medicaid beds.
