I enjoy Leesburg as a white person, but many people are closet or not closet Trumpers

I’m black and lived in loudoun county for a decade. Zero issues. Plenty of other black people in my neighborhood also.

I would still prefer Anacostia/Fairlawn area over Loudon. I am very comfortable in SE DC and encourage people to look over there.

You do know Leesburg is not named for Robert E. Lee, right?

This. I’m thinking this thread is a joke. It’s akin to saying, “I’m Jewish. Do you think I’d be comfortable living in a town named after Hermann Goring?”

I know a few Africans there.

Not African American though.

Does that count?

It’s an outer suburb in VA, proceed with caution.

Leesburg is VERY white

I am black. I have many black friends who live in Loudoun and love it. I wouldn't live there, but to each his own. If I am going to live in Loudoun, then I would choose Western Howard County, MD instead. It's just as pretty and the schools are great. However, you won't feel as isolated. I should know, I grew up there.

I mean, KKK flyers were circulating in the last two years. I wish I was joking.

This. Our neighborhood in Ashburn had one black family and I don't recall many kids at the schools who were black. Frankly, we had a few racist neighbors. The elections, first Obama and then Trump, brought out the worst in them.

I think it depends on where you are in the county, but don't expect much.

Thanks. Were neighbors friendly to the black family in Ashburn?

You're right, a town named after his family will not evoke the Civil War general every time someone says it. "Come to Lynchburg! No, not that kind of lynch."

But you’d send your kids to
Woodrow Wilson High School in DC, right?

But you do know that the school name has been changed, right?

Loudoun County, Virginia has a decent amount of diversity and a black person would feel welcome there.

Forget it. People flying confederate flags, KKK flyers.

Guess you did not hear about all the drama at the board meetings from parents in the school district in the past 2-3 years.

Also read the report that came out a few years back from NACCP about all the racism student experience in Loudoun. Goggle it.
