I do not use fat free cream cheese and believe I have substituted light butter for the margarine.
I made this last week with butter and full fat cream cheese. I received lots of compliments. Added butter and pecans to the topping.
I’ve been making this since it came out. Always a hit I always use butter but have used fat free, light and regular cream cheese and no one can tell.
Good to know butter works, is that generally the case?
I have some old family recipes with margarine and I didn't know if I could just use butter 1:1. Mom swears that some of the fake stuff is helpful with pie crusts, but margarine and Crisco weird me out so I just don't eat her baked goods.
