Classic RMIB parent. I'm an NP and know this post is about IB but the point holds about people jumping on to tell the whole internetverse about their kids straight As. It's the same off-putting tone that you read from parents on threads about Blair.
How does the point hold? OP ASKED about IB kids and people respond with answers about their IB kids.
One poster said "They only take the IB test if they are in the IB program." In context, that can only reasonably be read as saying that IB students only take the IB test.....which is not true.
Agreed: you can be in an IB class, and take the IB test, without being in the IB Diploma Programme. I don't know how many students actually do that, though. I also don't know how many RMIB magnet kids also take AP tests their junior and senior years during the IB Diploma Programme, or how much additional work they have to do to "self-study" for those AP tests. That sounds super stressful to me.
Also, if your home school is RM, you can be in the IB Diploma Programme at RM without being in the RMIB magnet.
I don't know what an "average RMIB kid" is, because by definition all RMIB magnet kids are above average - just ask DCUM.
Well since RMIB and Blair take the top 250 kids in MoCo then that stands to reason, no?

My junior in the magnet RMIB program has already taken five AP exams.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:What kind of grades do average studentss at RMIB get? We are curious how stressful it is at the magnets. Seems like kids are also self-studying for AP tests? Do teachers or the program help support the students with these, or do most kids skip the AP tests and just take the IB tests that are administered at the end of 11th/12th grade?
Program is extremely stressful.
RMIB kids do take AP and IB exams (mine took 16AP exams plus 6 IB).
RMIB kids do self-study some AP exams.
Most kids are crazy self-driven.

Well done. I wasn't talking about the AP exams. I was talking about non-IB students not taking IB exams.
Oh that wasn't clear.
And I'm not sure why you would talking about non-IB kids in response to this post?
Because I read the original OP and I guess you did not?![]()
