Does he like paw patrol? All three of my kids (2 boys, 1 girl) did really elaborate imaginative play with the pups and all of their vehicles (plus paw patroller, etc.)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has play sets that are tons of fun! Also you can but very extensive firehouses for buys with beds, gyms, kitchens, etc.

+1. Both my boys went through a superhero phase. We had an Batcave, vehicles and several figurines. Also, I’m not sure if Star Wars is as popular as it was 10 years ago, but they loved Star Wars figurines also.

He's a BOY and likes traditionally boy things (i.e. his story lines are superheroes, firefighters, PJ Masks saving the day, etc.), so please don't suggest getting him actual Barbies. I know how DCUM gets lol.

Little People or Imaginext are the brands to start with but you can find literally any play figures your son wants. Animals, super heros, aliens, soliders. We had a set of "community helpers" at that age which were little police, fire fighters, chef, teacher, etc and they got a ton of play. But my otherwise stereotypical boy also had barbies and that was fine too. Step in to any toy store aisle and youll find 100 options here.

My 4yo boy plays elaborate games with a mix of: Fisher Price Little People, Paw Patrol figurines, small cars/trucks, and toy dinosaurs. He builds them towns with Duplos or our larger blocks. His two older siblings join him, too. 6yo is a girl and honestly prefers this over her Barbies, unless she has a friend over.

We also have a castle with figurines from Lakeshore Learning that he likes a lot.

For my brother it was GI Joe, army men, and Stretch Armstrong to my Barbie, then he also had little star wars figurines.

At four, my boys had everything from Octonauts, Thomas the Tank Engine characters (they didn't care that they weren't human figures, they treated them as people), dinosaurs, a castle house with various knights, kings, etc.

They grew into Marvel characters, Star Wars figures, super heroes, transformers, etc.
