This exactly. How can they legally do this?

Another teacher here. We don't need to hit 180 days of schools since we are well over the required amount of hours. This is why we can have up to 5 snow days without needing to make up school time.

We have to have 180 days OR 990 hours. We still meet the 990 hours of instruction if you make March 5 a student holiday. The same holds true for some snow days. We can have some snow days and still meet the 990 hour state obligation for instruction.

Schools are fine. They have large parking lots and large interior spaces. Just move voting to Saturdays and Sundays when school is not in session. Many people don’t work those days, so there’s no missed work time.

Here’s the way back machine for you. The first time they cancelled school was 2016. Because with Trump on the ballot, there was genuine concern about violence at polling places. I had MSs then, and there was discussion of white supremacies “monitoring,” voting etc. they cancelled late, but parents had legit concerns because no one knew how having Trump on the ballot would play out. .

Today (Saturday) you could have voted. One of my friends just voted today.

We have Saturday voting, it’s called early voting.
