Bumping this up. Anyone know of high level camps during the winter in dc and or Maryland? Or Arlington and Alexandria.

I know NextStar is planning one but no idea yet when and where.

Otherwise, looking for other options as well. Thanks!

People with sense know there isn't much if anything a one week camp can do for their kid's development.

No need for all the hyperbole and embellishments.
People will sign-up anyway because that's what they do.

There isn't much reading one book does for your intellect either. Keep reading them...and it's a cumulative effect. The bottom line is that putting kids in different environments and maximizing their touches is what develops them. One should be judicious about which camps they choose, but dismissing any camp (particularly this one) as useless because it won't make a player better - is a short sighted approach. It's a long grind to reach a high level. If you're not interested in that grind, find the exit ramp. Sounds like your turn signal is already on.

My kid gets better doing camps I think. I used to have people always say camps are a money grab. I went in without any expectations. After every day at camp, my daughter would say how much fun she had. At the end of the week, she'd say she absolutely wants to do the next camp. She loves the shirt she gets at camp and wears it with pride. She also met kids outside her team, which she competed against in tournaments and league.

So, I look at this as she loves doing the camp. Maybe that's making her love soccer and want to do drills at home on her own. She's starting to become of age for college ID camps. People also say those are money grabs too. We'll see if the value of that experience is as rewarding as camps when she was younger.

They are both current / former pros who have more training experience than coaching - which Stanley also does. It's a 4 day camp - you're not joining a team. This is one of the better trainers you will find. My son works with him and loves it. He has a group of 25 or so 2009-12 MLS Next and ECNL players that he trains 3 days a week. Everyone says it's more valuable than their club practices.

How can a MLS Next player practicing with team 4/5 days week do 3 days a week outside training sessions?

#1: U13, 14 MLS Next players are not practicing 5 days a week...either 3 or 4. The 4 requirement starts at U15, I believe.
#2: Most make it 2 of the 3 sessions he offers. Friday nights are generally off nights for most clubs, and this is one of the times.
#3: One of the sessions is usually on a Saturday morning or Sunday night to avoid practice and (when possible) game conflicts.
#4: Obsession - those who truly want to get better find a way - but need to have parents able to support time wise.

MLS Next players going to hardcore training sessions on Friday nights, Saturdays or Sundays sounds strange. Unless it's off-season.
