I work in a courthouse and our highlights are citizenship and adoptions. They are joyous days for everyone. Congrats OP!

Congrats, OP!

(I was amazed by how touching my spouse’s swearing in ceremony was. The judge said how much she enjoyed doing them and I believe it!)

Congrats. 15 is nothing. It took me 21 years of being an Au Pair, changing to student visa, falling out of status, then going home. Moving back on yet another student visa two years later, falling out of status again, marrying for papers, then came green card, and citizenship came with Trump.

How long did you have to wait for the interview? Was it all straightforward or did the officer ask any unexpected questions or give you a hard time about anything in your biography?

OP here. Good luck! I believe I waited about 6 months for the interview. It was super straightforward. I was very nervous and had a huge binder with my entire life history in it. My interviewer smiled at me and said "I appreciate how prepared you are but this is going to be super simple." It was clear that he had read my file already, checked my socials and was ready to approve me

My interview was the most pleasant USCIS encounter I've had in my 15+ years dealing with the office...aside from the naturalization ceremony!

Thank you for replying! What do you mean by “checked my socials”? As in like your Facebook?!

OP Here. My husband and I took the day off and we just finished up lunch where I ordered the biggest cheeseburger and a beer. Felt right.

Truly beyond words. I have been in this country for 15+ years in different stages and different visas (student visa, work visa, student visa, permanent resident, etc.). I have very close ties to my home country but the US has been home for awhile now -- it is where I met my husband and we had our two children.

Even though I was always here legally, the stress of visas and USCIS processing was constant. Finally, I can truly call the US home. As flawed as it may be, I love her and am so happy to be here.

Welcome and congratulations!

Many congratulations.

We are expats who have lived here for over 25 years and appreciate how momentous this is.

Very well done and best wishes to you.

Congratulations and I would absolutely post this on your own social media, it’s great news and social media needs more of that. I had the privilege of attending a friend’s citizenship ceremony several years ago and it was wonderful and memorable.
