Agreed. What I don't like re: Remind is that MCPS gave Remind access to our personal phone numbers and I am getting texts from parents on my phone. MCPS does not pay for my phone and should not have provided my number to Remind. Also, I have opted out of having my phone number attached to Remind communications, but every time MCPS refreshes data with Remind, my phone number is uploaded into Remind again.

It sends text messages and emails, and it includes translations into multiple languages. It doesn't have course or grade data like Canvas and Synergy. And you don't need the app. I never installed the app but I receive the texts and emails from the school.
That was courtesy of MCPS - they provided your personal contact information to Remind.

It is not required to use by MCPS. It is recommended as another quick communication tool by staff.
It IS required by staff members to use it though.
Some staff at some schools, as mentioned here, are required to use it. Those are individual school decisions. MCPS says it is a tool (one of many) that staff can use to communicate with families. All staff are required to be trained to use in by December.

Lucky. Our principal is forcing it down our throats. We HAVE to send at LEAST one weekly message. I had a parent angrily write back (even though she signed up for it but regardless). I don't need this extra BS on my plate in order to maintain some MCPS quota so they can justify buying yet something else. If a teacher WANTS to use it, they should. Like the above poster said, no one should be forced to do so.
Once a week is crazy. Is this for elementary school?
Middle school. The ones I've *had* to send out have been a waste of everyone's time because I simply don't have any *actual* reminders to send out.

It was never intended to be a parent to parent communication app. It is a school to parent - parent to school app.
MCPS has its issues but paying for an app for you to contact other parents isn't one of them.
But how can I set up Larla's birthday party?
