Jesus Christ, people on this website will complain about anything.

Won Powerball? Now I have to pay frigging taxes…

A lot of "you should have tipped well." Isn't this stealing? The bartender should be charging for two shots instead of one, in exchange for money in HER pocket? She is stealing from her employer.

This is the truth.

I will take that over the ones who pour 2 cm of wine, only fill the beer glass 2/3, or load every mixed drink with ice.

Bartenders make their money keeping everyone drunk. It's sick.

The better question might be "why did you finish it and get bombed before your kid's event?" but...

The answer is all over the thread already: alcoholics love the "free gift with purchase" pour. Sometimes, it means the bartender is flirting with you, but in DC, where everyone drinks like a fish, bartenders probably just want to avoid the whining about how a patron's drink is too weak, etc.

Now, back to the first bit...

Um, you're still getting 3 shots of alcohol.

Right? Alcoholic math...

Sounds like an awesome bartender. Where at?

Easier to make a bigger drink right away than to try to give you 2nd drink on the house.
Your 3rd drink would have been smaller.

Bartender absolutely poured a TRIPLE shot over the rocks when I just ordered a simple bourbon and she charged me practically nothing. Now I’m sort of bombed waiting for my daughter’s event to begin.

You didn't have to drink it all if you didn't want to drink it. Sounds like you wanted to drink it.

Did you at least tip really well? That's why they do it. Or else they were flirting with you.

It depends on what you order. If you ordered a mixed drink, then it's important to get the balance of ingredients (including the alcohol) correct for the right flavor profile.

Sounds like you just ordered bourbon on the rocks though. The water from the melting ice needs to be slightly taken into account, but not really by much.

Just order a proper mixed drink, or wine next time if you can't pace yourself with a large drink.
