What is your work schedule like? Do you shower before going to work after pickleball? What time do you leave work to pickleball at 4pm?

Prioritize intense workouts on Saturday and Sunday. Otherwise, you're going to have to do what you can with the time you have:
- Have 10 minutes to spare during the day - walk outside, or better yet, up and down stairs.
- Keep hand weights in your classroom. During prep times, go on youtube and find 10 minute workouts that use weights. There are tons.
- When running errands, park as far away as you can, and walk to the store/appt/etc.
- When attending kid events (do they play sports?) use any time before the game starts or during half-time to walk (or better yet, job around the track)
- If you have high schoolers, can't you take 30 minutes in the evening to work out? Even 20? Again - tons of youtube content for short, intense workouts you can do at home. This is what I do on my crazy days when I can't squeeze a workout in at lunch but still want to be active. I have my kids sit in the same room doing their homework so I can help them if they need it.

Truthfully, I take my exercise time out of my work day. I bike to work 2x/week (16 miles roundtrip). My office gym has classes, so I go to the muscle conditioning class one day. The other day I’m in the office I have a personal training session with the instructor at the gym. I aim to go to yoga 2x/week at a studio near my house but I’m less consistent about fitting it in. Walks with neighbors or my kid on other days, also inconsistently.

I wake up at 5:30am each morning and do home workouts using the Peloton app. I have a regular exercise bike and do 2-3 bike workouts, 2-3 strength workouts, and 1 stretch/ yoga per week. I work 3 days in office and leave the house by 7:30am. I prefer to keep the same schedule on my WFH days.
I usually exercise 6 days a week and have one rest day on Saturday. On Sundays I don’t wake up so early just try to fit it in whenever.

Bike commute (6 miles each way, vigorous pace) - 4 days a week
Longer bike rides (25-40 miles) - 2 days a week
Strength training and rowing machine at gym - 1 day a week

I also regularly hike but usually at a slow to moderate pace because I'm with my DD.

If you enjoy it, you'll make time to do it, even at 5am.

MS teacher here- my schedule is about the same. We did invest in a Peloton tread and it’s been worth it - I can do the runs and bootcamp classes that are basically the same as OT classes.

I also keep a set of weights in my classroom. Sometimes I will close my door at lunch and get a quick 20 min workout in. I’ve even done a cardio class online. Wear a sports bra and clothes that you can workout in, but a layer piece like a cardigan to look more professional. The beauty of teaching kids is they really don’t care what you look like, so if my makeup isn’t perfect or my hair is up in a pony tail, it is no big deal

I think sleep is really important, especially with my family history of dementia, so I have just accepted that my old workouts aren't happening right now. I focus on getting a certain amount of movement every day + weights a few times a week. I do weights and squats in front of the TV, walk while my kid is in a one hour activity, loop the family into a regular dog walk, etc.

I used to do a hard workout after work daily and it required a lot of time discipline. Work couldn't run late, dinner had to be already prepped, etc. It helped to have a workout buddy who I didn't want to leave hanging.

I usually do it in the morning before work but if you have teens who need you after school you could also try to work out in between picking them up / dropping them off at an activity.

I can’t get up early every single day. I just can’t. I am a big believer in doing what you can. I squeeze in what I can, which is sometimes walk-in the evening after my kids are asleep and sometimes getting up early to exercise before kids are up. I simply can’t get enough sleep on the days I do that so I limit it to 2x a week. I do a more intense workout during the weekend at least one day but a couple days of *something* during the week really helps me maintain a consistent routine.

If time is short I often opt for barre or Pilates in my basement so I don’t have to wash my hair. I can shower in 2 minutes but if I wash my hair it adds so long

I have teens who are up later due to activities and I find it hard to go to bed earlier to get in the sleep I need to just wake up at 6am. Im already aiming for 10:30. I could wake up at 5, but it seems painful. But maybe I'll have more energy if I do it!

OP, can you work out during their evening activities, if you’re driving them and dropping off? Most adults need at least seven hours of sleep per night; I’m one of those who gets up at 5am to work out, but I also go to bed no later than 10pm.

Wake up at 4:10, drive teen to swim practice, head straight to the gym to lift 3 mornings a week. Go for a walk after dinner most nights.

Even before the early morning swim practice/extra early wake up I still went to they gym in the morning before work because if I skip the morning and have to go in the evening is it crowded and pure hell. In the past I have also run or done Orangetheory at 5am.

My kids are older so I don’t have to help them in the mornings. I either work out at 6:00 am or at 7:30/8:00 pm - just depends on how my day went. We have all of the equipment in our basement so I don’t need to go to a gym.

I work hybrid. I walk to and from the office twice a week (40 mins each way, up hill on the way home). Plus I walk a ton on weekends (we don’t have a car).

Once a week in the office I go to the gym and do strengthening exercises. I don’t really get sweaty and it’s only 20 mins so I’m there and back super quickly.

The other day in the office I take a long lunch to do strength and cardio and take a quick shower. I’m prob gone from my desk about an hour and 15 mins.

Three evenings a week I do a Pilates workout from YouTube after the kids go to bed.

Kids are 3.5 and 2.
