She wants good schools.

Yeah, the schools are much better here than in Falls Church City, troll OP. At least we have more diversity than you and your token black person and token hispanic person and two token Asians.

OP is the Falls Church City troll. Sometimes I wonder if she is a real estate agent in FCC (like the rock star realty lady). Every month or two she posts something that very clearly meets all the requirements for living in Falls Church City but she needs someone to tell her FCC would be just perfect for her.

Tell me more about walkability in Chantilly and Oak Hill

Different people, different values. I'd prefer to have a shorter commute to be able to spend more time with my family, but you do you, OP.

Agreed on Chantilly. Chantilly has good schools and you should be able to buy a nice SFH in that budget. You won’t have metro access into DC, but you could be a <10min drive from Wegman’s, Harris Teeter, Safeway, and Giant. If you buy nearly Chantilly HS, you might be within walking distance to the Greenbriar Town Center, which has a Giant and CVS.

I'm not sure there's enough inventory to really be able to recommend a specific area. I see only 2 SFH in the entire Chantilly HS pyramid for instance in a 950-1.1m price range. You might want to work backwards- plug in your price on Redfin and see what areas with something for sale appeal most to you.

If you really don't mind small spaces and really want to be inside the Beltway, look at the Bluemont area of Arlignton, and Falls Church City between 7 and 29 (north of 7 is nice but probably not in budget)

But you will probably do better in Reston near one of the lakes, or in Town of Vienna.

$1.1 million in TOV? In 2023?

A townhouse, yes. A detached house if you are fast and not too picky.

Personally I'd move to Chantilly.

This looks overpriced, cheap built cookie cutter TH.

That's an appropriate price. Most likely already has offers over list.

A house in FCC for 1.1 will have half the space, less bedrooms and built in the 1950s.

I think that’s par for the course price wise in city of falls church. Presumably people are paying for the schools.

I’d say Vienna or Reston. Arlington if FCC to Chantilly is rough.

Vienna. Big townhouses and walkability.

I would buy in Chantilly so that spouse doesn’t have a commute and the prices are right too.
