Proponents of government spending will claim it is a tax revenue problem, we need to raise taxes. Fiscal conservatives will claim we have a spending problem, with government spending increasing above inflation rates. I always thought a government should attempt to run a balanced budget, but both parties simply continue to spend. The Federal spending does stimulate the economy and increases GDP, kind of like a sugar high.
