One can get an excellent education at any MCPS HS. Each has the same curriculum and the same pool of teaching talent. They all even have an adequately large high-achieving cohort. Sure, there are some differences in bulk test averages that correspond to an area's overall SES but you can do just as well in Calc BC at WJ as anywhere else.


Don't the best teachers want to work at the schools with the highest achieving students? Thus, your argument is off.


I'm guessing the best teachers want to work at the schools where the commute is convenient, the administration is fair and effective, and the colleagues are congenial. But that's just me.

People diss Cornell because it is perceived to be easier to get into. The W's are all public non-magnets - you live in the zone and you can go there.

No, I think it's an excellent school, just as good as Whitman and Churchill.

It's BCC (honorary W) that's the poor cousin here.

Can't comment on other high schools.

- parent of WJ kid and BCC kid, with lots of friends at WC and WW.

Whitman is the best by far. The others are... meh.. (If you include Winston Churchill, then that is also a great W)
