This. I can only say it smells like death. It is just so … unique. You will not forget once you know it.

This is the correct answer. If it’s a strong, pungent, foul odor that you can’t identify as something else it’s probably rotting flesh of some sort.

This. We had a deer die in our fully fenced backyard once and it took a few days to be able to remove it. Just walking into the backyard was gag including by the 3rd day. Nothing else smells like a large rotting dead body.
