Her place looked really neat and tidy although since she needs help getting around, we were together the entire few minutes in her condo. She wanted to get in and out- she grabbed a few things and we left. Small victory and relieved.

And she has a semi-neat hoard in her many closets - floor to ceiling, packed with the contents of our family home.

Thanks again everyone.

Sounds like her suspicion and paranoia were unfounded and probably just random thoughts she doesn't even understand. I'm glad you got in and are now reassured about the state of the condo. Good luck going forward.

This sounds like my 97 year old mother. She gives “stuff” away and then accuses people of stealing from her. It’s a large family and siblings believe her stories so no one gets along. She’s been doing this for years but now that she is older she is no longer good at it. Her evil self can rot as far as I’m concerned.

She also may have been suffering or still suffering from the effects of anesthesia while in the hospital? Anesthesia in the elderly can cause cognitive impairments that really linger.

I think this is it. She's afraid the nursing home is going to be permanent

OP back with an update. I went in today with my mom who now uses a wheelchair FT.

Sorry, OP but that sounds like a good plan. Glad you and your brother can work together. I always thought AL places were harder to hoard in, guess not. It's hard, hang in there.
