So yeah, mini is definitely what’s in style.

My junior asked me to start looking online for dress ideas for homecoming as she's swamped with homework. There are so many pretty dresses but in the past 2 years all the girls are wearing are the micro slip dresses or body con dresses--pretty much the most boring dresses you can buy.
Is that anyone is wearing this year as well? I'm hoping kids will branch out a bit.
Hey OP, we are in the same boat. My DD is not into the micro, mini, super revealing dresses, and I'm not a big fan either. We've settled on more of a jersey/knit styles. It's casual, comfortable and makes my DD feel more relaxed. You can also try a wrap dress.
Not sure what you're going for but my DD is definitely not doing the micro mini.

Part of me thinks that but then I remember I am now a middle age mom. I remember my parents telling me my outfit wasn’t appropriate as a teen.
My daughter has a standard uniform Windsor micro mini dress. The only variation between girls seems to be the color and if they are wearing shoes or sneakers.
We, the good girls, agreed with your mother. My brothers(the cool and the quiet) and their friends “said many things” about you. My 13yo DS says that girls like your DD don’t respect themselves(no, we’re not religious).
Is your DS sad they won't go with him? Are you incubating a baby incel?

And this is why I won’t be policing my kids’ outfits. I grew up like your family. Judged for everything all the time. It does a huge number on your self esteem and generally conditions you to judge people nonstop. It’s very unhealthy.
We talk about what outfits Are appropriate where (don’t wear that dress to see grandma), but if my kid wants to wear an outfit I don’t like to homecoming? Go for it! Her outfits are not the way we pass on our values.

What seems to be the trend on this? My DD is not a heels girl (walks like a baby giraffe in them, prefers her "dress sneakers") but it seems like most of the Hoco pics I've seen this year have the girls wearing strappy heels?
The heels are just for the photos, and then they change into the sneakers.
I really miss Payless for stuff like this.
