The link above shows exactly what data and criteria they used last year. As far as I can see there was no local norming. GT designation is different from the CES criteria.

Sounds right. Here is what is posted on the MCPS website about screening last year. It's pretty extensive in sharing what data was used, but it doesn't look like it's been updated for this year yet.

My kid is in second grade and we just received our DIBELS report. she has a total composite score of 342. It also says “has met goal.” It is 342 out of what number?

Both of mine were tagged. It made no meaningful difference. And both are NHS, and one currently at a top 10 school - so don't think this is sour grapes. I just never saw the GT label have any impact on their schooling or trajectory.


Our experience differed. For my eldest, it opened up a lot of opportunities starting in ES. For my middle child, it helped us advocate starting in 6th grade.

Thank for for the link & clarification that it is a short version. The link points out that there have been reading dibels test in fall/winter/spring, but I have never seen any report/results posted on parentvue for the past 2 years (k and 1st grade). Did I miss something?


I’ve never seen Dibels posted on Parentvue for any of my 3 kids. I’ve only received it as a printout, either sent home or given out at parent/teacher conference.

In 1st I got a packet sent home each quarter with the Dibels score and then there was a printout that broke each section down. It listed strengths and things that the kids could work on as next steps. It's not on Parent Vue.

Cognitive Abilities Test. The testing window this year is between Nov 28 and Dec 12.

It is a very short screening version, not the full 3-hour version you may read about online.

You are supposed to get a copy of both the Dibels report and the MAP-P report -- you can email the teacher to get it (though it is still the testing window now so they may still plan to email it to you.)
