Same with MA in lit, also have JD. Reading and writing well are important in law; cases sometimes play out like a good short story/novella. Ha! You are writing for an audience; making the story interesting can be helpful.

JD - not all lawyers hate their jobs. There are a ton of perfectly happy attorneys out here.

I need to pay bills so happy with my JD. But if I was married to someone who could support me, MFA all the way. I'd love to write books.

Another lawyer here who also has an MFA! MFA was fun but largely useless when I decided not to go into academia.

Most MFAs I know hate being poor. Of course if you have family or spousal money, MFA is more fun.

How could you even begin to answer that question. You have no idea how life would turn out on the other side.

And asking that question is ridiculous because the odds of a reader having considered that option is practically nil, so asking it without context is absurd.
