So, ballet is very gendered and at a certain level the skills taught are different.
For the record, most of the ballet classes at BalletNova are mixed, and the boys have a very small number of separate classes--maybe one per week? Given how few boys are in ballet, it's a good thing.
Also, for the record, in major ballet schools (for example, Royal Ballet School, Paris Opera Ballet School, Vaganova), the boys and girls are trained separately for most classes.
