We are in the same boat. Hoping DC just adjusts to new school but their heart was set on the school they were waitlisted at. If we decide to do it all over again, might hire a consultant but thinking that could just be a waste a of money since school already had a first look. 10th will be harder. DC up for trying again. I think PP said he is doing fine and likes it ok but not challenged. That's different than not being happy.

As for competitiveness, I personally feel like this area will always be competitive. But it does seem like the "mad rush" is dying down...but I have no facts there. Just observations

I’ve heard the opposite. Applications are down because of the economy and separately, many of the public school parents are returning in time for their kids to enroll in the strong ‘W’ schools. I know my bro and sis in law are doing this.

The economy is smashing for the private set. We all dumped stocks (except for some AI related firms) and are gobbling up tons of risk-free interest payments right now. We also don’t live in the W zone.

This is a small group of people that keeps getting smaller. I know many that used to be able to afford private and now cannot easily do so.
