Nah, could just as well be NYU or Columbia. We don’t know which one.

I most often hear kids hate those two rather than Yale.

Everyone hates Columbia

I know someone who hated Yale but loved Harvard.

You have to visit.

My kid had his heart set on one school. Swore it was the only place he would consider. Spent a weekend with a buddy there and quickly decided it wasn’t for him. Glad he visited and spent an entire weekend getting a feel for it.

He’s happier at a much different school (huge flagship).

Dream school is a ridiculous concept.
If you can only see yourself at one school, that is immature and naive

I don't blame kids for getting it wrong at all. There is so much hype and pressure and the schools (for the most part) don't do much to present the reality of life there as a student.

I was thinking nyu.

Hard to believe a big university with no campus in a city renowned for attracting obnoxious pretentious blowhards would be a bad fit for a wide-eyed 18 year old.

I noticed that many celebrities who attended NYU for performing arts dropped out -- more so than other performing arts schools.

Yeah, even Tony Soprano found time for a leisurely college road trip.

Neither of my sons had “dream schools.” We phrased it, “Could you see yourself here?”

If she picked the school because of Gossip Girl, then it is kind of on her

I don’t know where you live but I guarantee there is at least one obnoxious pretentious blowhard.
