Subject: Not likely to be grandparents until 70
If my kids wait until their mid 30s, both DH and I will be late 70s or 80 before we have grandkids. Oh well.
I had a grandmother who was 78 when I was born. I was the youngest grandkid. But I actually spent the most time with her, driving her around the last 7 years of her life. She died just after 100. Was she active and involved, no. I think she babysat me one time. But it was still a very valuable relationship to me because she was a fascinating woman.

Most of DCUM will have older parents when their kids are born, that's what you have chosen by waiting until thirties to have kids, especially if your parents chose that as well.
My parents were 35 and 44 when I was born but I chose to have my kids in my early twenties. I'm almost 70 and I've got three awesome great grandchildren. I wouldn't have done it any differently either looking back.

Obviously even comatose grandparents can have some sort of relationship with their grandchildren but my personal preference would be to do a bit more for them if given a chance.

Worst advise ever. What happens when they wind up moving somewhere else? Unless you life WITH them, the vast majority of retirees cannot financially keep up with the costs of frequent moves.

My older son will be 40 and younger on will be 33 when I turn 70.
I don't even want to be grandma, but I'm planning to be active and involved if it happens. I'm also planning on getting a younger, more in shape partner who can help me with the grand-kids while I sit on the bench and micromanage.

If it makes you feel better, OP, my kids know and spend time with a great-grandfather in his 90’s. You can be a blessing in their lives in your 70s and beyond.
