I had to correct this in a work product I was editing yesterday. The really scary part was that the product was drafted by someone whose area of expertise is supposedly APAC.

There are plenty of instances where I’ve had to give my number over the phone, and someone asks me what kind of card it is. If they knew this, they wouldn’t have to ask. So perhaps not relevant to you, but it takes up zero brain space for me, and once someone told me, I’ve never forgotten it.

Kind of like knowing that all cars have a little arrow on the gas gauge telling you which side the tank is on. Tiny detail that’s handy when you have a rental.

Some basic geography facts:

That Africa is a continent, not a country.

That North America is not just the United States, there are actually 7 countries that make up the continent of North America.
