We've been doing this for over two decades and I've never once seen any type of bug or moth in my pantry.

after an issues with some sort of rice bug years ago, now we freeze it first then I store it in a large glass canister

I keep the rice in the bag it came in, make sure when taking your rice out your hands aren't wet. A drop of moisture will ruin the bag. I roll up the plastic bag inside and zip the outer bag up.

I use old popcorn tins/tubs for my basmati and my chickpea flour. The kind of popcorn tub you find at Costco around Christmas

We do the same thing and also have no issue with flies. We have a smaller OXO pop container that we transfer rice to and pull out for cooking so we don't have to go in the bag every time.

NP - same for me. I keep 1 big bag of rice in the pantry, and decant a smaller amount into a taller plastic container with a lid so I can pour out what I need. I've never had pantry moths, knock on wood.

Indian here, I have a few different varieties of rice in 10-20 lbs bags at any point. I store the bags in big storage containers and have a smaller amount handy in the pantry for everyday use. Never had bugs in rice.
