Ironically, we originally moved here in 2009 because of the great schools.

We came for the schools in 2012 and just left for the same reason. We couldn’t be happier and the best part is our kids are happier too.

It couldn't be that every housewife in the state was using CTC on the declaration forms as income could it? $2,000+ a year is just about the amount a money a parent would get for 1.5 kids.

In any case, Virginia was not among those lucky 14 (2021 to 2022). In Virginia, the median household income fell from $87,861 to $85,873, a decline of 2.3%.

There is a significant proportion of white collar jobs that are now fully remote post-pandemic, when they used to require going to an office daily. Those folks are moving to places that have a lower cost of living or are more vacation-y. I know a couple who got a house on the MD shore and others who move near family.

Lower paying jobs (e.g., retail, service industry) tend not to allow for remote work so those folks have stayed put.

I've said this before: NoVa should be careful what it wishes for. Same for Austin, TX. Same thing is happening in Miami, FL. A lot of FL is seeing an increase in people moving there, except for Miami, which is seeing a net decrease.

I've said this before: NoVa should be careful what it wishes for. Same for Austin, TX. Same thing is happening in Miami, FL. A lot of FL is seeing an increase in people moving there, except for Miami, which is seeing a net decrease.

It's UMC Boomer retirees who are moving and taking their pensions with them.

Two retired Boomers who worked in public sector easily have $120K+ in pension income combined.

I know a lot of people who have left the state of VA in the last year or two. Lots went to TN, some to FL.
