DD (21) and I just talked about this. She said she did not care at all if we knew where she was. She did care about given some company or hacker easy access to her location. Yes of course phones are alway trackable but they are much more trackable with life360 or the like. We have never tracked..

Yes, you will when they get old enough. You obviously haven't entered this stage of life.

I wouldn't use it for adult kids unless they were ok with it for some reason: mental illness, solo travel, health reasons that sort of thing.

Yes and I do. If you are close with your parents and can foresee being in a caretaker role for them, do it now before they get dementia and get paranoid/cranky about it this way it’s just in the background and they forget about it.

Aka - I see my dad right now at the donut place.

+1. Of course I track my parents? I also get their ring camera feed.

+2. My mom kept setting off the alarm in her house the other day because she forgot how to use it. Because I get the alerts, I was able to call her and tell her how to do it.

I use it for my college freshman to see if she is in the classes when she is supposed to be and to see what time she gets back to her dorm in the evenings/weekends. I check probably once every 2-4 hours. I need to keep her out of trouble and accountable for attending class and not partying.

Nope. Had it briefly when they were young teens but it never worked reliably. We stopped using it when they were 14/15 ish. Never started with our now 14 year old.

I did it with my driving teens so I knew when they would be home from practice after school and I was not calling them which would encourage them to use their phone while driving.

Yes, our family of 4 is on Life 360, including my 21 YO. It works both ways - he likes seeing where we are at a given time. We'll keep it on as long as we're paying for the phone.

My teen shares location with a bunch of friends, so I don’t see why sharing with us is big deal.

Its not but whatever someone is comfortable. Its their decision to make, not mine to enforce.

"Big deal" which way? You can either leave it to their friends to keep track of them, or be one of the group watching.

Free Google Maps location sharing if you want someone to keep an eye on you when you travel.
