It's the best charter in DC for teaching Mandarin, if that matters to you. It's one of the charters that has fewer at-risk kids, if that matters to you (maybe it's a good thing to you if you want your kids around rich kids, or it's a bad thing if you aren't rich and the school doesn't know how to handle it, like asking for a lot of parent donations). It is not the best school for every kid. And it is not the best either by overall achievement, achievement by any demographic subgroup, or having its students improve their test scores. OP, if you say what you don't like about Inspired Teaching, it might help people tell you if Yu Ying is going to be any better on those things.

Looking at the PARCC scores for YY, 54 percent meet or exceed basic standards in math and 65 percent in ELA. That’s higher than most charters, but still low.

How old are you kids? I don’t think Yu Ying takes older kids. Also, question how well you can support Chinese language development at home.

But most people at Yu Ying will probably say they like it and families I know there seem happy.

You realize it's Chinese immersion, right? I mean, that's a pretty big difference vis a vis ITS; I don't think most people are choosing between them based on their "rankings."
