I get it. Another parent bought my HS DC's position and the kid bragged about it to my DC. Other kid & their friends lied about my DC and other athletes to the coach to get their positions. The other kid was terrible at the sport and ended up dropping out, but it was a painful lesson about money and politics.

Actually, it sounds horrible to me without the things you left out. But, you said there’s only a few more weeks, so the end is in sight.

I can't imagine what sport this is that the culture/vibe can be so different between club and HS, especially since you say there is overlap between the two. Volleyball maybe? My experience with HS volleyball was pretty messed up, especially since errors or lost points can be blamed (fairly or not) on one individual. There aren't many players on the court at a time and coaches have a lot of discretion to pull some people for errors but keep others in. You're also stuck in the bleachers in an enclosed space, so you can't easily hide like you can at a field sport.

Why so much facetime needed? I don't stay at practices - drop off and pickup - and for games I sit with and talk to my spouse.

Take up knitting or crochet. You can focus on something else while the activity is going on.
