We have been to a few and hosted one at Cub Run. All were well attended and at ours, every parent dropped off. No one even stayed. We had plenty of family there to help so it was fine. People love winter swim parties.

So, we’re in DC and would probably do at a rec center in PG. I would hire a couple teen lifeguards I know to facilitate in the water (I would obviously get in, too) and the pool would provide a dedicated lifeguard. Other parents could go or stay. The other option is to rent Goldfish - she took lessons there during Covid, but they pool was very small and the room was unbearably warm, as I recall. I mentioned this concept to one of her classmates parents and she basically said AA mothers won’t go to the pool in the winter because they would be afraid of pneumonia, and I don’t want to have a party and nobody comes. But this is a 5-turning-6 party. Maybe too young?

I think it’d be fun, but many kids can’t swim at this age so take that into consideration. We did this for my DD starting at age 7. Some people did decline if they weren’t comfortable, though I always tell parents they can swim too.

We were just invited to one at a Goldfish facility, although kids are a bit younger (4/5 yos). I know my DC will love it but assuming I'll have to get in the water myself because they are not swimming independently yet for more than a few feet. So it goes!

That's annoying because I probably won't have anything to fit her and finding a bathing suit, even online, will be tougher.

We would go. I would not get in the water because my kid can swim well.
Germantown swim center is pretty cool fyi.

We did a winter party at Cub Run when my kids were small and virtually everyone came, and brought siblings (which was fine by us). So if parents hated it, they sucked it up and came anyway.

Yes, if it's one like this where you make it clear from the get go that parents don't have to swim and if it's one of those really hot places. We did one ages ago in winter when my kids were small and I still remember it because it felt so great in the middle of winter and the kids had not been swimming in a long time. Do beach balls as a favor at the start of the party.
