Chemo can really alter the taste of food, plus cause mouth sores, so seconding the advice to avoid anything acidic and especially tomatoes. When my mom was going through chemo I would make her basmati rice cooked in chicken stock peas and lot of butter thrown in for the calories, and she was able to eat it (and said it tasted really good). This is a nice thing to do for your friend.

I love her orzo with roasted vegetables. It is very healthy too.

This is a favorite Ina recipe in my house. Son just asked for it the other day.

I made dinner for a friend doing chemo for almost a year. I made chili, salsa verde chicken and supplemented with rotisserie chicken with bread and salad, as well as Supergirl soup.

This is a lot of work, my cousin served it last week for Rosh Hashanah and it was delicious!
