It really only benefits those with high 7-figure estates and up. The middle class with pension income are getting driven out of Florida by high housing costs, property taxes, and insurance costs.

I bet the legislature will end up removing the mandate on insurance for condos and let them self-insure all in the name of "freedom." This will buy them a couple more years until the next storm hits and DeSantis will leave it to someone else to clean up the disaster.

This really isn't going to end well for lots of seniors in Florida on fixed incomes living in condos.

The condo insurance issue is interesting. At state level the amount needed can be way less than mortgage companies may require.

And you can self insure. And only a $5,000 penalty if not in compliance.

But it is required now

Yes, and that's wonderful. But not subsidized by the rest of us, especially after a disaster.
Per a PP, FL should create it's own pool and let the premiums reflect that pool only. Same thing with taxes.

But that’s kind of par for the course for owning a condo or house, isn’t it? Costs go up, there are unexpected repairs, etc.

You will encounter the same high insurance policies with your Rehoboth, Bethany, Dewey and Ocean City properties.

National health insurance in the wacky USA would be a horrible product. Then you would have to buy expensive private insurance to get the speed and quality we are used to.

Or buy an insurance policy from a insurer that doesn't cover Florida. Erie didn't 15 years ago when I signed up for car and home insurance.
