I got mine in Jefferson County WV (just over the border from Loudoun) where we have a second home. Easy as pie. Nobody gets vaccinated in WV so there’s plenty there lol.

I am the OP and had much better luck using Walgreens (as opposed to CVS). I entered some random Maryland zip codes and found several options. I live in DC but couldn't find anything for several days out in the District. I had to drive about 30 minutes one way to get the vaccine, but they had it available and took my insurance -- no issues. I'll confess I invested a lot of time into refreshing the Walgreens website periodically to find the earliest appointment possible, but it worked.

Regarding the question of why the rush... I have an extended work trip across the country beginning on Monday, that includes a conference with over 1,000 attendees. No clue if I'll have sufficient immunity from the vaccine to negate whatever I might be exposed to, but I tried my best.

Because I still consider it a high priority to avoid getting COVID, and putting off the vaccine when cases are up is not consistent with that priority.

I see to remember that it was possible to do same-day reservations for covid vaccines at CVS last year for the bivalent booster (we got it pretty early, a couple of days after approval). Now it looks like they are booking for this coming weekend, so several days ahead. Do I remember incorrectly?
