We're willing to go to the 'burbs, but we want someone that's good with, if not specializing in, kids. Thanks!

If you do a search for "pedodontics" on the BCBS Federal website you will be able to get a complete list. Not sure where you are located but here is a search based on MD.

Does it need to be a pediatric dentist? My kids see my dentist. Perhaps ask your own dentist how old your kid needs to be.

Yup, this is what we're doing with my 3 year old.

They do cover the whole cost of a cleaning twice a year, and preventive xrays at regular intervals as long as you use an in-network dentist. Out of network, nothing.

Jusy pay out of pocket. A young childs dental visit is not going to cost much.

It's usually $140 - $185. I know that's nothing to a lot of DCUMers, but some of us can't just drop that on a dentist visit when a little big of legwork would mean a $20 copay.

We have BCBS and go to Falls Church Pediatric Dental Center. The pediatric dentist is wonderful and very accessible. We had an emergency during the snowstorm and she was available to consult on phone and followed up with us a couple of days later. Which medical practitioner shares their cellphone number with patients these days, especially dentists, they never do!

We go to Dr. Kuwbara. His staff submits the paperwork for the insurance they do not accept. I think we have BC, but forget and we got almost everything back at our last visit.
