My straight A student is at University of Maryland in the Honors College. Couldn’t get into any top schools. Didn’t apply early decision anywhere.

+1 my kid, too, from a magnet, cisgender male, not urm, and CS major. Got merit aid. Not a bad deal. There are a lot of A/B students at UMD, btw. It's a large school. But, it's harder if you are applying to an LEP.

Kenyon also offers merit aid. So does University of Vermont. And VCU--it's art program is top notch.

A/B student in 9th and 10th. 1B in 11th, 1 in 12th with 12 APs (graduated 4.1 W FCPS). WM ED— unhooked female.

Really figured out how to work manage ADHD and anxiety in the second half of 10th.

Very unlikely she would have been admitted RD. But no issues fitting in academically or socially. Above a 3.5 GPA at WM in what is a considered a very demanding double major. Has been selected for some competitive opportunities.

This can't be answered without taking into account the family's financial situation. That is the main driver of school choice for these kids.

Same for my 2021 grad. Same list of schools, but different chances at each, and, different results. My DC got into her first choice school, and merit from others, while friends were WL or rejected


Where are the friends planning to go if they’re getting rejected?


They are attending schools like Villanova BC and U Miami. They got rejected from Top 25

Where do A/B students go? That’s funny. Given that they are the majority of students in college I’d say they’re attending thousands of colleges.
