Chris Evans dated a few different women fairly seriously in his youth, and none of them has ever said a bad word about him. Jessica Biel and Jenny Slate were two of his most serious dating relationships.

He was once quoted in an interview as saying: "I definitely want children. I definitely want a family. But you cannot put the cart before the horse,” he told USA Today after his split from Slate. “The family only works if it’s built off the extension of the love you feel for a person. If you all of a sudden want the kid more than you want the relationship, you may be on shaky ground."

Chris's parents divorced, which was a difficult experience for him and his three siblings. Many children of divorce and dysfunctional marriage are more risk averse about marriage and family - there isn't anything wrong with that, it's a healthy adaptation so long as it is not taken to extreme.

I have always found it utterly bizarre how people who have been married multiple times or are in lackluster or dysfunctional marriages (which ultimately DO harm their kids) are somehow considered more 'normal' than people who wait for the right time and the right one, or who eschew marriage altogether.

This board is rife with women and men lamenting their wrong spouses and loveless, sexless, unhappy marriages. People who refuse to see that staying in those situations is harming their kids even absent physical abuse in the marriage. And then they point at those of us who wait and call us immature.

Are you 12?

PP is right. What self respecting, mature person marries for the first time at 42?

People who meet the right person then and who don’t just grab any guy or girl at 22 just so they can have regular sex or a big party.

No, she’s probably someone who got married at 23 and thinks that it makes her superior and that it was some major accomplishment.

A 15-year age gap is nothing in Hollywood. Look at George and Amal Clooney, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas.

You can fulfill your goal of getting married and having kids at 42 without marrying someone in her 20s.

It's disappointing.

Still think his dog is adorable.

I would not bet against Chris and Alba. Although there is a 16 year age difference, in terms of relative maturity that makes them about equal because we all know men mature much more slowly in most cases. Chris has been saying for a few years that he was laser focused on finding a partner, and he wants kids and the whole family thing very badly - he has four siblings and they are all close. Marrying someone his own age would make having a family a much more difficult prospect than marrying someone in her prime fertility years, obviously. He lives here in eastern Massachusetts where he grew up, and which also happens to have a very large Portuguese population and great Portuguese culture, so it must be very comfortable for Alba. They will be away from the insanity and destructive morality in Hollywood which undermines so many marriages. Chris and Alba both grew up Catholic and while Chris isn’t anymore, he probably retains the strong sentiments about marital fidelity and endurance that the church instills. His parents divorced and he has said he was pretty devastated by that, so probably very motivated to never experience that himself.

So yeah, DCUM gotta be snarky, but I don’t think it’s going to matter whether there was a prenup or not. Only time will tell.

They’re ass kissers though. They’re only snobby to people less famous than them.

Eh. Most of the other men on the MCU were married before 42.

Yes, that's very naive. It may be true love and they'll never need it, but anyone with assets should protect themselves and get a prenup in place. He's a 42 year old waning star with limited future prospects marrying a 26 year old wuth dubious earning potential. They could be married 40 years and totally in love, but if he is not a goddqmn fool there should absolutely be a prenup in place from hus end.

/woman who insisted on a prenup with considerably fewer assets.
