Kinesiology is actually difficult to get into as a freshman admit. Many of the slots are set aside for athletes, and there are many aspiring sports media and sports industry folks who want the sports management major. That said, if the DC presents as a strong commit for physical therapy and other core kines programs, that may be an easier admit.
It is easier to get into Kines after freshman year as a transfer once the athletes leave for pros or the transfer portal.

If a female applicant, apply for a male-dominated program/school. If a male, apply for one that's more female-dominated.
My nephew was able to get into UMich by applying to their nursing program. Male nurses are in big demand. He then switched his major after the first year. It didn't really set him back since so many of the first year courses are the same pre-reqs for many majors, especially those in a related field.
