Okay, but you said it was as a result of "defunding the police", which it obviously wasn't because that didn't happen here. Also the whole point of defunding the police is apparently lost on you, since you are wanting to use a BLM talking point against the ... same people who are part of BLM. Defunding the police is to sharply reduce their budget so that they no longer are buying military grade hardware and riding around in quasi tanks shooting around with sirens on from crime scene to crime scene, and instead go back to being beat cops walking the neighborhood and talking to people. And then take all that money that would have been spent on M4's and tweaked out SUV's and instead invest that in community support / social service mechanisms which are *always* underfunded.
Generally speaking, the used military equipment is "donated" to the police organizations via a federal grant. However, the maintenance for the equipment is a budget killer so most organizations take the equipment but when it breaks, no one can afford to repair it. So it doesn't really result in a benefit to police. But keep repeating left wing talking points.

Saw a post on ND that the 2D watch commander has been working to get a mobile camera placed at that corner. Will just shift the dealing slightly and temporarily.
I remember a while back someone posted on DCUM how sketchy it was sitting in the car right there while her kid(s) were at speech therapy in The Brandywine. I'd be sitting in the waiting room at this point.
This kind of thing popping off at 3 on a Saturday afternoon is really concerning. Without the rain, more could have been hurt. This was between people who are said to know each other but 3 shots fired, guy shot once, 2 bullets went somewhere else. Chilling.
Hope the victim makes a speedy recovery.

The Council changed how property managers can screen for criminal backgrounds and how far back they can look, that change has had an impact.

There is a lot more visible drug dealing in Forest Hills/Van Ness than in the past. I don't know that all involved are residents, many may know or be associated with or related to tenants and come from elsewhere.

He was at a Nats game when the shooting happened. Have not seen a response from him since.
So many families use that playground at Forest Hills park, it's really concerning. I think the Montessori preschool uses it too.

Just be prepared that CM Frumin loves him some voucher program. Last week he offered several glowing and detailed anecdotes of “success” stories. On the other hand he was unable to offer any anecdotes of crime victims and was completely oblivious to a mentally ill woman who has been terrorizing Cleveland Park for months, despite multiple arrests.

I cannot say “Oh Well.” I am a homeowner near the apartment buildings with voucher holders in abundance. My family walks to school, stores and Metro and these trips once taken without a thought are now risky. I do feel powerless but will start with contacting Frumin’s office since that is the logical place to start. I encourage fellow DC residents to do the same or something to show their concern. Three years is too long to wait until Bowser leaves office.

What are you talking about? DC is full of ideological dems, with no ability to think in any way other than party lines. And this is why we are in the state we are. Moderates are not welcome here and our voices are drowned out by the claims of defund police and equity. It is so frustrating. Even moreso because quite honestly, the moderates I know are less elitist and, without the white savior racist overtones of the socialists now running this city.
Do you know any details about this shooting? I have not seen anything other than that two men were seen running away. I am not sure how you can attribute a cause to something if you don't know anything about it. Yet, here you are blaming Matt Frumin and "Defund the Police" (something that did not happen in DC which actually increased its policing budget).
