6-18 months?? I’m looking at my duvet cover and realizing it was a wedding gift so about to hit ten years. It looks fine. 6-18 months is insanity!

Definitely cotton only. I prefer percale. Microfiber is definitely the worst, especially as someone who sleeps hot.

I prefer down alternative duvets, and they are quite inexpensive on amazon. Still like the look of a duvet/duvet cover way more than a quilt or comforter, always in white. You can change out the blanket at the foot of the bed if you need more color.

I've bought these in white and they are perfect, and get softer with ever wash. My only quibble is the brown buttons on the shams, but I just flip them so they don't show. Ties on the inside corners make changing out the duvets very easy.

Agree about quilt + blanket instead of a duvet. Duvets are so much more work to clean — and the filling likes to slide around, so coverage often is uneven.

I wish we did a quilt for our guest bedroom. Removing/ adding the duvet cover for cleaning is super annoying and time consuming.

+100 for cotton all the way--NO MICROFIBER.

+1 for Target sheets and for Costco.
If it were me, I'd do
Sheets: Target.
Quilt set or duvet + cover is your call. I'd do the duvet + cover b/c it's easier to launder. Either way, extra blanket at foot of bed.

Quilt sets seem to be better at Home Goods.
For duvet + cover, IKEA seems to have more options--just consider the higher-end duvets/covers.

I've also had good luck with Target and Costco towels.

I really like Home Goods. Don’t get microfiber, it’s basically polyester.

Buy some sheets, babe. It’s not that hard.

How and why are “guest linens” different from any other linens?

I would look at Home Goods and TJ Maxx. You can get good to great thread counts and excellent sheet sets for less and better quality than Target.

If looking for more expensive ones I would look at Brooklinen and Biscuit home (https://www.biscuit-home.com/).

Become a member and get all of these at Costco! They have some excellent quality sheets and towels at very reasonable prices.

I don’t like duvets and would do a light quilt plus blanket. Fold the blanket at the bottom of the bed. Concur with target threshold sheets. Then macys hotel collection for towels. Some color/style is almost always on sale.

If you want to do just white, check out the bamboo sheets and the Egyptian cotton towels from Quince.
